City advises of critical electricity upgrades in Sea Point, Camps Bay, Clifton

The City advises customers in the Sea Point, Camps Bay and Clifton areas of upcoming critical electricity supply interruptions for maintenance, which will be carried out from 22:00 on 22 August 2026 until 06:00 the next day. Please note that the outage duration is an estimation and restoration could be delayed due to the complex nature of the high voltage infrastructure work. The areas impacted includes Sea Point, Camps Bay and Clifton, among others. View the area outage map.

The City apologises for any inconvenience caused while the essential maintenance is being carried out.

The maintenance is essential to enhance the quality and reliability of electricity supply. It is important to note that interruptions to supply will only impact the areas on the map and only on the relevant dates. 

The work is planned to be carried out from 22:00 on Saturday, 22 August 2026 until 06:00 on Sunday, 23 August 2026, if all goes to plan. Alternate dates are also provided should the work not go ahead as planned as it is weather dependent. The maintenance will be carried out on:

  • Saturday, 22 August 2026 or 29 August 2026

The outage may impact parts of the following areas, among others:

  • Sea Point
  • Camps bay
  • Clifton
  • Signal Hill

The outage will impact both the blue and purple sections, as seen below on the map. It is important to note that nearby areas may also be affected. View the area outage map.

Please note:
 
The electricity supply could be restored at any time, and customers must please treat all electrical installations as live for the full duration of the planned maintenance work. Residents are encouraged to switch off appliances as a precaution to avoid damage caused by power surges when the power comes back on. The City apologises for any inconvenience caused and thanks residents for their cooperation.
